Adam Plachetka to Celebrate Ten Years at the Metropolitan Opera in New York with Three Roles

The Metropolitan Opera in New York has announced that Czech bass-baritone Adam Plachetka will perform the roles of Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and Escamillo in Bizet's "Carmen" during the upcoming 2025/2026 season. These performances coincide with Plachetka's ten-year anniversary since his debut at the Met in 2015, where he first appeared as Masetto in "Don Giovanni."

In addition to these roles, Plachetka is currently performing in the United States in two productions of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." He will sing the role of Figaro at Palm Beach Opera in Florida, with performances scheduled for April 4, 5, and 6, 2025. Subsequently, he will return to the Metropolitan Opera in New York in May to portray Count Almaviva in "The Marriage of Figaro," with performances planned from March 31 to May 17, 2025.

Reflecting on his decade-long journey with the Metropolitan Opera, Plachetka expressed his enthusiasm: "I am very much looking forward to returning to the Metropolitan Opera, where in 2025 I will celebrate ten years since my local debut as Masetto in 'Don Giovanni.' Since then, many other beautiful roles have followed, including Leporello in 'Don Giovanni' and Marcello in Puccini's 'La Bohème.'"

Plachetka's upcoming portrayals of Leporello and Escamillo in some of the most popular works of the operatic repertoire affirm his established position among the world's leading opera singers.
